... 8217;s getting late into the Fall. However wonderful it is, the heavy evening dews may actually be worse than England’s rain for putting away a tent. Completely wet inside from condensation in the cool night air, as well as wet outside from the dew, we are always packing a soaked tent. That and the mosquitos are ever-present again. Just had to add a few negatives so all my Canadian friends burried under snow don't get too jealous ;)
... Around 3 am we decided to call it a night (I know, grandpa JerBear going home early, right?). I go back to my barren apartment (more like my cloister) and go to bed.
Overall, it was really nice to spend the week on my own, in a big city, with people that I knew. I felt very independent and I am going to miss it. But I can't complain, as I am leaving for India in a week. Next time you hear from me, I'll be a true Indian raggamuffin.
What a waste of a day...
Go to Nimes and the national parks people said..... we ended up at a campsite way out of Montpellier and the highlight of our day had been the supermarket!!!!
The national park was lots of farm type marsh land... not what we had imagined. Nimes seemed pretty and lots of well preserved Roman things but the traffic was a nightmare and too hard to park so we kept driving with a plan to go out in Montpellier that ...
... mine a variety of glaces including licorice, topped with finely shaved licorice. The waiter explained when we were ordering that the chef considered cooking to be an art, and in the manner of a painter, he arranged the food as though it was on a palette. Hence the name of the restaurant.
Narbonne
Our friend Susan Flintoff had recommended a restaurant in Narbonne, called Le Petit Comptoir that she and Brett had enjoyed last year ...
... could find quiet of privacy if they wanted it. We just wanted not to be near the teenagers playing Michael Jackson on their radio.
Despite our fatigue, we walked up to the top of Mount Cavalier which is part of the garden to Tour Magne, a tower that was once part of the city walls and was also built by Augustus. Having viewed many views, we opted not to pay to climb up the tower steps.
We wended our way home, both ...
... my things and went to bed eagerly waiting for tomorrow to come. SCHOOL!! And FRIENDS!! YESS!!
I woke up this morning happy to be back in my comfortable bed. I didn’t want to get up, but I did. I went to class where I barely stayed awake because I stayed up past my bedtime. After class the usually group hung out for a little and I went to my hair appointment. I got my hair dyed (I brought ...
Palavas-les-Flots, France travellingjon... washroom. In my humble opinion, Avignon is a big tourist trap. It has two main attractions. The Palais de Papes and the Avignon bridge. Both big disappointments. The Palais de Papes is a Castle where many Popes resided before the centre of Catholisim was moved to the Vatican. The 9 Euro entrance fee was a waste of money. They obviously tried very hard to create a tourist attraction out of an old castle. The castle is excessively big with hundreds of bare ...
