... good. After that we walked to another tapas bar more in the historic center and it was about six fifty and my friend got a glass of wine, I got a 'jarra' of beer and our tapas was two bagel sandwiches, pasta, and fries. Pretty awesome. During the evening I went with the group to "a grand surprise", a flamenco show. It was alright but it felt very artificial. It was a group of Americans and a group of Japanese. That was the only audience. After ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands skivail89... Mirador San Nicolas and just sat staring at the lit up Alhambra in all of its glory! We decided to go to a rooftop bar for one more drink and more gazing at the Alhambra and then called it a night.

The Alhambra was SPECTACULAR. It is really impossible to describe it in words. Even the area walking up to the visitors´ desk is beautiful. Walking up the path you are surrounded by green trees and flowers. To each side of you are little rivers rolling over ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands juliannamargare... br>The Alhambra was SPECTACULAR. It is really impossible to describe it in words. Even the area walking up to the fenced off part is just beautiful. Walking up the path you are surrounded by green trees and flowers. To each side of you are little rivers of water rolling over the pebbles and rocks of the sidewalk. We bought out tickets early Sunday morning and went right to the Alcazaba to start off – There weren´t very many people there that hour so we ...
Orgiva, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands debdeb80... get our point across, which proves that we’re at least somewhat proficient in the language. A good sign! On Saturday we went to the Alhambra which was just as beautiful as I had remembered. We ate lunch in the gardens and then made our way back down. Then on Sunday we went on a small hike into the mountains in this little town called Monachil. It was a beautiful place with great views! We made good friends with a guy from Barcelona who was staying in our ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mrg8920... who stepped up on the play. He took a touch and buried it in the upper right corner of the goal. It was the most clutch goal I have ever seen. It tied the game, and sent Barca on to the final of the tournament. The bar went crazy. Thursday It was the travel day from hell. I had to be back in Bolzano for practice at 8 or I would be one dead American. I wasn't flying out of Granada, instead Malaga, an hour away. I had to take a city bus at 6am to the Granada bus station then took ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mavsqb1... a beer and a complimentary tapa. I just sat there thinking to myself, "wow, I am so lucky to be magnificently viewing one of the most prominent monuments in the world on a glorious day with some great people." I could be sitting in boring class at WashU or walking through ice and snow back to my apartment. Instead, I was living it up in a foreign land with rich culture, history, and architecture. It was a day like today that I was so glad I was studying abroad in Spain.
Granada, Spain jakester21... I find most fascinating about this country is the way history coexists with modern life. You can see this in the way they build their cities here. The intricacies of ancient carvings and stone work are juxtaposed to modern buildings and high rises. And many of the streets are too narrow for any modern car to pass through, but history takes precedence over convenience. In one of the books I read about Granada, this ...
Granada, Spain lifeadventuresOur sole stop in Europe with time for a bit of sightseeing was in Granada, one I found to be a fitting introduction on a trip to Morocco because of its historical significance as capital of the last Moorish kingdom in Spain until 1492. Americans know that year best as the one of Christopher Columbus's discovery of the new world, but it was a momentous year for aggressive Spanish Catholicism for other reasons as well. The ...
Granada, Spain modernnomad67... day because I wasn't going to go to the Alhambra, which is what Granada is famous for. I just didn't want to spend 10 euros and preferred to walk around and enjoy myself. So, as I did every other day, I walked. Lots and lots. I went up and down the little streetrs, got disoriented, went in circles, and it was fun. People are in the streets at all hours so, even when it got dark, I didn't feel uncomfortable being out ...
