Bus travel today. These roads are long and rough and it seems as though we're getting nowhere. So I bought some tickets last night when Brian's negativity got the better of me. This is a 'problem' we just can't seem to get past. But on we go. I had really hoped to get camping again, but I thought that this would help make some progress (which has been slow) and get to the coast again.
Armed with my map ...
Finally after 2 days of cycling I feel that we're getting to the Turkey I've been wanting to see. Away from the crowds and the destinations listed in the travel guides. This is what I'm looking for. Sites are nice to see, but I would like to see beyond them. No more facade. it may not look as glamorous on the surface, but I'm not looking for glitz.

... a bloody nightmare. Carrying heavy bags through the docks till we reached our ferry was a tad painful given our various ailments. However we settled into our 'couchettes’ and had an agreeable journey.
However, on our arrival at the yard at 03.15, despite our instructions to the yard, the boat was securely locked and the office well closed. Luckily Bob, the yard manager, woke up and after trying bolt cutters and hacksaw, eventually cut the ...

... kebab meat layered, speared and roasted. Turkish Kebab and Turkish Pizza was amazing! Not to forget the Turkish red wine!
But nothing could beat the experience of a boat ride around the Turkish coastline.
A small group - us - paid the crew of a nice boat to take us out for a day. The water was amazingly blue, clean and the bottom of the ocean seemed so close. We threw anchor. While we jumped into the big blue, the crew brought out fishing gear, caught ...
... and listened to Turkish trance music while smoking our first hookah (Apple flavored). We shared funny travel stories and discussed the "Ladder Theory." This is an apparently well known theory about the difference between men and women when they look at friends versus relationships. Bodrum, Muğla Province, Turkey kickthrough... the country, we agreed that someday we would again return to take another crack at the big brown bird. We are more than willing to do this, particularly given the amazing warmth and hospitality of the Turkish people. Rarely have we encountered such kind and friendly locals during our peregrinations. Just a few examples: when Cori sneezed a few times in a local internet cafe (covering her nose and mouth, of course), the man working in the cafe got up to offer her a ...
