... salubrious area, but once we walked in the door to a very nice reception area we immediately felt at ease. Our room was lovely. Very large with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom and a safe. It was around 7 o'clock before we were settled in so we went for a wander around our immediate neighbourhood to look for something for dinner. The best we could do was Subway, but it filled a hole and we returned to our room for a much needed ...

... so we stored our bags and jumped back on the S-Bahn to Schloss Schleißheim, a palace on the edge of town with nice gardens. It's not on the scale of Nymphenberg Palace but pretty just the same. After a few hours here, it's time to make our way back to the hotel to check in, freshen up, and continue exploring.

In the afternoon, we visited Burg Grünwald on the southern edge of town. It was ...

... Grand Final week. Bicycles are the preferred form of transport in Munich, with bikes stacked along every available wall and laneway. Riders weave their way between buses, cars and pedestrians without too much trouble. It seemed that bikes had the 'right of way' over all other forms of transport. The City of Munich is rich in history. The streetscapes are a blend of old and modern architecture. Thirty-five percent of the city was ...
