... around and try different types of local cuisine. Last stop for the evening was the Night Markets. While not nearly as good as the markets in KL, the boys were still able to get a last minute shopping. The boys sure do love to shop!!

Tomorrow we head off to Singapore to see a very different side of Asia! No doubt will be a little bit of a contrast from the last two weeks!! And hopefully better ...

... away sights. To make the fact I'd been at the airport longer than I needed to be worse, my flight was delayed. While waiting for my flight I tried a soya drink. Now that I've had it, I'll be trying the other flavours in the fridge over getting it again. While I am glad I visited Penang I was disappointed with Georgetown. I had imagined it as a quiet historical town. Instead, it was a busy, dirty and smelly city that just happens to have old ...

... up the hill and back down the other side, stopping at the top to visit a Chinese temple adorned in full New Year’s décor (the celebration lasts a full two weeks). The hilltop temple also offered beautiful views of the island and ocean, but it was quite hazy that morning so there wasn’t much to see. I did spot several wildlife species along the hike and at the temple including a squirrel, a bee eater (type of bird), and a long thing green snake that was apparently lost ...

... and arrive at our hotel the Banana Boutique in the dark. We settle in very quickly, not sure about the hotel as it smells and is a bit odd, however we wander to a restaurant. George Town reminds me a bit of Phuket town, so I'm not so sure about it! In the same way it is also protected by UNESCO so the buildings are really old. It's also full of Indians and Chinese. We will see what the next couple of days hold.

... open flame (so pretty slow considering how busy the place is) the bread is all made in the morning; the egg is cooked over a flame also. Pretty cool, and tasted delicious to boot! Other days we tried out buffet Chinese lunch which was great, hawker oriental food- which was our favourite (incidentally a won ton large noodle soup with BBQ pork- one of my fave dishes was 80p). You get the picture, food is gooood here. Surprisingly for me, Georgetown is an incredibly arty area. ...
