Off to the East of Nice today to play with the rich and famous in Monaco, visit the little medieval village of Eze and head across the border into Italy to visit San Remo, because we can. Well we did two out of three...ain't bad - think that would be a good song title- ha ha Driving in France (and Italy) Motor bikes zipping in everywhere. Random cars and trucks stopped where they like, road, footpath, bus lane, they put their hazard lights on and just pop into a shop - no ...

We stayed in a small village in the mountains called Biassa, a 10 minute drive from Riomaggiore, the first of the 5 towns in Cinque Terre. Each of the towns are beautifully located right on the cliffs with small colourful houses and an amazing view of the ocean. We had a bit of a failure of a day but it was really lovely in the end. Due to a landslide 2 years ago, some of the hikes between each town were closed. We were told that we could walk between three towns, ...

... rose, we felt like French royalty! After lunch we ventured out to find these market stalls, we crept through a narrow alley way at which a floristry stood at the start, the flowers were unlike any we have seen before! Onwards the alley was filled with bazaar type stores, kebab shops, spice shops, jewellery stores, soap shops, clothes stores...and then we see a shop called 'Le Scale De Pirates'. There's a pirate statue out ...

I've spent the past week in a small 'retirement/beach resort' type town called Saint Raphael with my crazy but cool uncle, very pregnant auntie and sweetie cousins. It's been sunny and warm half the time... The other half, rather rainy... But still better than Duesseldorf! And pretty good for autumn.

Mostly playing with the kiddies and hanging with my Frenchy partner in crime (also featured in 2011/12 summer NZ and Amsterdam adventures). ...

... I pay my 3€ and follow Liz out. And up. And it takes ALL of the 30 minutes with much stopping to admire and photograph the scenery on my part. And it can't be denied... stunning scenery it is. Up and down the valley, over the mediæval town below, across to craggy mountain ridges and up to the citadel which is finely placed to defend the town. The walk down is easier, the icecream is even better and the 90 minute return train trip makes for perfect snoozing ...
