Given that the forecast all week is for blue sky and 30C heat we decided that today would be a dedicated beach day. It is very hard to do anything else to be honest with the kids wilting. So we headed off in the trusty Kangoo armed with LILOs, tyres, snorkels, lunch and an umbrella (and everyone's togs this time!) towards Antibes on the coast. There was quite a lot of traffic ...

... last town. So the plan was to get up early, get a train to the town we could walk from, do the walks between the towns and then spend the rest of the day in Monterosso where you could swim on a proper sand beach. It's another 7.00am start today, with a half hour walk to a station to catch the "Chemin de Fer de Provence" up the Var River valley north of Nice. It's a small train like a V-Line Sprinter... Just 2 connected carriages, four trips a day, some local commuters but mainly tourists. "Tell me about your uncle's family history here" I ask Liz, thinking we are going to visit some ancestral base. "Oh no ancestors!" she replies. "He used to own a house here that I always ...
