We started out early today- needed to catch the 8am train to Cologne. The train was a nice ride. Took us 2.5 hours. The beautiful and enormous Cathedral was near the train station. Brought brekky this morning at the Cologne railway station because we discovered they have lovely yogurt and muesli. Then we went shopping. I bought a pair of German shoes, made in Hamburg, for $52! Rosanne bought a very comfortable pair of new season shoes for a little more. Found unbelievable bargain at a 5* Hotel. & couldn't resist. To put it into context the breakfast cost 50% of the room rate! We didn't have breakfast! Even better, parking was also extra but as GG was too tall for their underground car park, we had to park with the smart cars in front of the Hotel at no charge. Hilarious!

... us for a drive along the Rhine. It may have been a little rainy but it was awesome. As we toured they filled us in on the history and events. Much of which dealt with the wars and was very enlightening. We saw an area of the Rhine where the Germans destroyed all the bridges so the allied troops couldn't cross.
