... After the cave we went on a mini hike to a view point and took a lot of pictures. It was really pretty.
Just a 10 minute walk from the cave sight was a tiny authentic restaurant where we had a prosciutto tasting! It was the best I have ever had, and I normally dont even like it. It wasnt super chewy and slimy but really good! I had no idea that it was raw meat!! I knew it was preserved in salt but I just assumed it was cooked somehow afterwards but ...

We woke up to another rainy day so decided to head south and explore the caves today. So after a hefty breakfast we hit the road in our little Toyota Yaris and before long were in the sunshine and parked up at our destination- Postojna Caves.

We left the ship not knowing what to expect – the ship docked on our side so we got to see all the security firsthand before leaving, but no issues getting off or back on (another stamp for the old passport!).

We collect a tourist map, and headed up the stairs trail to Tito Square where old buildings were abundant as well as a lot of old history. There were plenty of tiny wee shops, being 9am Sunday morning, most were closed for the day.

Today was Verona and Padua. Verona, with its Roman Arena from the first century A.D. where, ironically, they were setting up for a huge concert this evening featuring Adriano, a popular rock group. The inner wall quite well preserved through the centuries and a small section of the outer wall still standing.
