More Beautiful Days and Other Such Crap!

... booths have been helpful (when they’re open), but they usually are not. We’ve also been cycling almost through the various regions about 1 a day. So if I do stop for information it’s only for the one day and will not help us in planning the next as we’ll be out of the region…Had a little marital spat with Brian the other day about how routine our lives have become - LOL.

Tough day today; first it rained, then it poured. Finally, when the sun came out, the winds blew in off the sea! La Rochelle is worth a visit to see the back streets and restaurants along the harbour, especially lit up at night. Back in the rooms in Charron now, watching the stars and satellite spotting :-)

Heading South

Second day on the road: instead of going straight to Bordeaux - where, according to plans, we were supposed to fetch Ada from the train station - we decide to take it easy and procede at a leasurly pace along the pretty roads of south-western France...we'll meet Ada tomorrow! Following our instinct, we end up at the end of the day in a gorgeous camp site by a small lake: very laid back, almost empty, and stocked up with cheap rose' wine...perfect with ...

day 10

day 4

... A French equivalent to "Poly Pocket' or "Littlest Pet Shop" will keep the boredom at bay while the old granny and grandpas visit. Luckily there was some joy in her day, Sunday. Along the travels they stopped at the old family homestead, and saw the crumbling house of the great-great Grandpapa. Victoria kept a piece of the roof for her Daddy, and was excited to find a lizard exploring alongside her. She was happy to describe the many toilets she has seen on her journey so far ...

An apology and an explanation

Hi folks, Have about 20 entries on the way, plus heaps and heaps of photos - unfortunately to date have had a variety of issues stopping us completely the blog as we should - the worst obstacle being Sam spending hours distractedly reading the Herald online, instead of telling our tale - Francie is giving him lectures and nasty looks on your behalf, don't worry. Photos haven't gone up since Panama because havent been on ...

La Belle La Rochelle!

... an oasis in about an hour. Poor Matt though as the only topless women have been 40+.....hopefully Spain and the rest of the south will be easier on his eyes.

We enjoyed cheap and delicious seafood, mussels being the norm here, while buskers, artists, and craftsmen entertained close by.

The weather was hazy and hot, of course, making the days look like a dream world ...so all in all a fantastic experience ...

Lourdes, a town of faith

... light procession. So many people were there, alot of them are very sick, they were all wheeled in by nuns, nurses, volunteers, to join the procession. I´ll never forget this experience, it made me appreciate what I have. My life is wonderful and I am a very lucky person to have such wonderful mother, relatives and friends. I am thankful.
