      Oct 1 morning we were in Heidelburg. We spent the morning here. Saw the bridge, a castle on top of the hill, Carl's Gate, university, Hapt pedestrian street. We did a long walk along Neckar River. Had Chinese lunch (the only Chinese meal on our tour). These lunch is very ordinary... that's why we got a snack in Rotheburg later that afternoon.

      ... cost us €160. Breakfast, which was included in every other hotel we stayed at, cost €15 each. Worst of all, we would have to stick around until the late afternoon the next day if we elected for the jaw-dropping laundry service they provided, with charges like €8 per pair of pants.       ... highlight of the tour was a walk along the town wall-built in the 14th century. We walked along the top of the wall and made it around almost the entire town. We finished the evening on the "night watchman tour", but we peeled off before it was over. The crowd was too big and we were going to the same places we had seen during the day.
