Last night we shared our campsite with the lesbian society of Germany (they had flags), however they weren't the problem the odd couple pitched next to us were snoring louder than a Boeing 747 so we decided to spend most of the night sleeping outside our tent due to the extreme snorers also the 30 degree heat which didn't seem to drop until about 2am. This led to an early start which turned out to be ...

We weren't being cooked alive this morning which was a treat due to some excellent pine trees (I have no idea what trees they were really) covering our patch of tent until 8.30. The castle is owned by a Princess and is opened to the APT group for viewing and dinner. During the evening a pianist from the Cologne university came and played. It was a great evening!

... wasn't too bad! The point of this story is while I was sitting there eating my soup and weird beer, I hear this siren that sounded like a bomb siren. The odd bit was that nobody even batted an eyelid. It kept going off for ages and still nobody seemed to notice it. So I'm still not sure what it was but I didn't get bombed. 3 fire trucks flew past a few minutes later I'm not sure if it was related lol. So it came time to leave Dusseldorf and head for Amsterdam. I get ...

... a crazy concept for NZers but public drinking is perfectly legal in the oh so modern and rule-abiding German lands.

Further evidence of how "slow" (sarcasm here folks) to advance NZ has been is the German laws allowing people to smoke indoors. Now you might not think this is so bad. But it's like descending into a sooty smoke cloud of suffocation. You can see the smoke in the dim light of the clubs. Breathing is possibly only ...
