So, after all the waiting we did, we are actually in Germany! The plane wasn't very comfortable, and a couple of us were forced into seats that didn't recline (making sleeping hard, painful work) but we didn't crash and burn, so thats a plus! Yes! So magically, the flight managed to squeeze in over THIRTY extra people including us! It was supposed to leave at 2am, but it left around 4. There were even empty seats so that we could move and lay down/stretch out! Very nice.

Taking the ICE (high speed) train to Germany put us in Saarbrucken in less than 2I/2 hours. Helmut and Imgard Kerchner were there to greet us. ... one instance - the first night I had quite the awful bug encounter. A big, black, crunchy, shiny, beetle somehow made its way INSIDE my long sleeve shirt. I woke up and felt it crawling on me and went to the bathroom and quietly freaked the hell out! It was awful and I didn't sleep at all after the trauma.
