    ... All is quiet on New Year's Day

    We departed Merida at the luxuriously late hour of 10am this morning, after wheedling with Milton a bit. Actually, he was feeling a bit rough this morning after last night's party. We dragged our bags (and in some cases, hangovers) to a pair of private vans and rolled out.

    ... blowing sand all over us as we sit on the sand so it's off we go to head back home. No sun means Leesh isn't impressed and the wind didn't help the cause as we are all covered in sand. Jump on a collectivo and head back to Playa. We get back into the hostel and along the way dive into a shoe store for Purto to pick up a few cheap pairs.     ... a good hour was wasted just waiting for things to get organized by the numerous tour guides.

    And then at exactly 10:15am, we boarded a ferry boat that brought us to none other than…..the island of Cozumel, a 45 minutes boat ride from here.

    ... hot surface making beats and noise. It was amazing to watch him toss it behind his back and catch it with the fork. Or spin it around the fork over and over. Then he set the heat surface on fire and moved the flames all around. Then he check with us what we wanted cooked.     ... evil twin of the apartment we had really seen, no semblance whatsoever. Just picture our tired, down-trodden faces, we just had no energy to yell or scream, just cry, what a disaster. After they cleaned up the place, making us wait outside for 4 hours, dead on our feet, we perked up and were ready to put it all behind us. It was then that the nightmare started.
