    ... to see David, so head off to his queue. However, it's going to be 2 hrs in the blazing heat...couldn't do it. So linch instead. J keen for the inevitable pizza, so we decide to avoid the tourists & head off on our own. Found a market just clearing away, & checked a couple of restaurants before finding the ideal one! Pizzas were 4 euros! Not a tourist in sight either. Delicious pizzas too..

    ... the piazza in front of the massive Cathedral with its ornate facade. A gentleman in the town hall across from it struck up a conversation with us and said it took 12 generations of builders to complete the structure. The town had a nice semi urban vibe to it and I noticed it is on the main train line between Florence and Rome. Easy to revisit without a car. :-)

    ... Sangemini has been brought to light. However, the Forum area with the ruins of the basilica and of the Twin Temples, the Theater and the Amphitheater, both of which are quite well-preserved, are visible. Also the very beautiful arch of St. Damian, and further on, very interesting sepulchral monuments. Right next to the Forum the beautiful medieval church of St. Damian was built by using the archeological materials found within this area.
