We had a somewhat leisurely morning as we packed up to depart Lorch, with breakfast available from 7:30 am and the bus leaving at 8:45. Because there was serious roadwork on the regular southbound highway, John took us up the small valley behind Lorch on narrow and winding roads. A visit to a giant Christmas store is the perfect thing to wipe away all memories of dismemberment though! This store was CHRISTMASY, a candy-coloured maze of festivity with cheery carols and wafts of cinnamon. You can't be in there and ...

We had a wonderful breakfast at our hotel - a choice of everything one could ask for - and a beautiful breakfast room too! We took a short drive to Wurzburg, parked in the Residenz (Prince-Bishop's Palace) cobblestone parking lot and began a walking tour of the city (via our guidebook). We made sure to get back to the Residenz in time for our English tour. It was spectacular! A treat for the eyes and great historical information. Don't call a Franconian a Bavarian! We finished ...
