... spent too much time investigating. Aside from a few months of an Introductory German course that I failed and dropped, I certainly have no 1st hand experience with their culture.
Planning, plotting, and practicing is how I will accomplish this irresponsible feat of travel and confusion.

It was sooooo cold in Frankfurt, we didn't want to spend much time here since we had no winter clothing. WE got in late, went to our hotel, then back to the airport to get our flight to Bangkok moved up. We though it would be at 8 that night, but they managed to get us on the next flight out, which was pretty much within the hour. Woohooo! I also kept speaking Italian in Germany... so confused with all the languages.

Today we had a slow walking tour with what looked like Heidi's grandmother. This town was a strongly Jewish town before the war and there are none there now. Rather disturbing. The views were beautiful.

We arrived in Frankfurt to some more wet weather, and we headed to a hotel a few blocks away that we had seen online. ... her tour one day and the wife was carrying a bag with a bread around.  She kept sniffing it and when she asked why she had the bread with her they didn't answer.  After two hours she finally asked them again because was very curious.  They lifted their sleeves and she saw the marks of the Auschwitz concentration camp on their arms.  They were Jews who had survived the camp and the lady always had to have a loaf of bread with her because ...

... like home, we enjoyed a pleasant stroll. Once back on board, we had a trivia quiz to keep us occupied during the afternoon. The time just flies and there is so much laughter on board, it is unbelievable.
