So for those who ever plan to travel to west Germany, one day in Düsseldorf is more than enough haha. I took the train out of Brussels and arrived in Düsseldorf around 3pm. The girls that I stayed with in Scotland are actually from this province and had just arrived home last week so they came and picked me up from the hostel not long after I arrived. First they took me to an old ...

The mooring ropes come into use when in locks and at our evening port. The photo shows the fore and aft "spring" that is essential to keep the boat positively located. She does all this very well and very routinely ...

A travel blog entry by anthonygoodwin on Jul 21, 2015

... five km from Roermond, I decided to walk toward the lock from the point where we'd temporarily moored the boat. As I got close I became aware that the lock was about to open so I decided to run back. After 20 or 30 paces my calf gave in with a significant tear. It hurt but I had to get back to the boat, or so I thought. My discomfort got worse quite quickly. After taking an hour to find a mooring (Roermond is a very popular holiday place and this ...
