Blazing sunshine..the sweat just drips off you & can't believe nobody faints! However after 45 mins we're in. Well worth returning too. To think David is 500 yrs old is astonishing...he is also so HUGE!

After leaving Cortona we slipped briefly out of Tuscany to visit nearby Assisi in the province of Perugia. Resting place for St Francis it was sombre to visit his tomb under the church there, however the rest of the town has been transformed into a religious tourist destination. What said it all was the carousel outside one of the churches that was adorned with religious motifs...note the Francescan monks in the background. ...

Day three - wet, wet, wet. So we decide to venture of to the capitol of Umbria - Perigia. It is a lot bigger of course than Spello ...
