    ... is as spectacular as the views over the town of Meiringen and the Aare valley. The falls themselves create a huge cloud of spray – not surprising as they drop 250m, and there is of course a cutout of Sherlock Holmes to have your picture taken with; how could I not?

    ... the station, but eventually found the place and travelled up. Arrival at top coincided with gale type winds and lashing rain-could only see about half mile views! A quick walk around some surrounding woodlands (cue 'A walk in the Black Forest' soundtrack!), then straight to the cafe (there is always a cafe!) for warming hot chocolate/coffee, then back down. ...

    ... there our journey to Jungfrau began. We changed three trains to get to the top of Europe. The sights were spectacular and we all had a wonderful time.     ... a beautiful rural home in an interesting "communal" arrangement with half a dozen other houses. They have a lot of shared space where they grow fruit and vegetables and keep chickens and quails.

    The house was two stories and a huge cellar as big as the house. We got the top floor two bedrooms and bathroom which used to be the daughters
