The mighty Dolomite Passes
... I took the wrong turn in the village and somehow came to a dead end, and then I realized the road leading out of town onto the main road was closed with no sign of a detour!!!
Finally after going rounding circles I somehow ended up on the main road but going the wrong way! With a few boy racers behind me I could not even stop right away as they were right on my tail. Soon I managed to turn off into another road and make a U turn, at last I was on the right road ...
Onwards to find the Dolomites
... that my plans of heading via the mountains to Bolzano was going to be impossible as all the passes were closed!!! I looked at the map then the satnav for ways round but just could not work out where the hell I was. The signs on the road simply said "Pass Closed" and underneath said "Use alternative route"!!! I wonder what route we were supposed to take???
With the satnav sending me round in circles I simply got on a road heading East and followed that for mile after mile ...

... apple trees laden with fruit, at least we think that's what they were. Bell chimes every hour I think, will know doubt find out tonight. Will go up cable car again tomorrow and then bus onto Saltria, unsure really as can,t get any other info than in rick steves Italy book, tourist information is closed. A fantasia journy
... pretty quiet, a few unlucky tourist like us looked for shade in the rain, luckily there where a few stores open, we also found a fancy store for baby cloth, 250€ for a coat!!!! Who would pay this amount for coat that will be good for a few months??? After a very "touristic"strudel in one of the open caffes we decided to buy some food in the mini market and to cook them in our very well equipped apartment. We bought ngucci, ravioli and souces....we are going to eat now!!! Good ...
