Before we went to Mont Tremblant we planned on going on a hiking trip. Twice. We had a campfire planned. We had a lot of plans. We had dreams.

All of that got ruined by the weather-gods that decided to stop the heatwave for exactly these two days and send us pouring rain instead. Nice one, guys! So hiking and campfire did not happen. Instead, after arriving in the Hostel we went canoeing with our official canoe instructor Lauren (she actually is one, learned it ...

... hungry black flies. The mosquitoes are bold and aggressive, no messing around, they go straight for the bite, landing on hands, in ears, nose, hair. After that excursion which was ...

After the excitement of the race had calmed down we headed out for a late lunch at Spag and Co, an Italian restaurant right on the finish line. It is now time to celebrate Fathers Day. We had a great lunch but also watched some amazing athletes cross the line. By this stage most of them were in the 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79 and 80 to 84 age groups. We struggled to work out how people can still be doing these events in these age ...

... an amazing way to see the race. Best part ... The finish . I get access to the finish line. I get a special helper who brings me the medal and videos me putting it on Royce . He looks buggered and a bit shaky and the medic comes and checks on him Lucky I've seen it before . He's ok after a while.why do they do this? The medal is huge! It is such a wonderful achievement . Royce says "swim was good , ride was hard but doable, felt good off ...
