... down through the valley, a much more sensible option as it's almost flat. We did a 8klm round trip. The walking and bike paths here are just fabulous, well signed, meanders through small villages, "right of way" paths through people's property (just like in England), over creeks, and you look up and there are the alps which take your breath away.

We took the leisurely route though the middle of the island to avoid the crowds, past the monastery museum and fields of frolicking horses and cows endlessly flicking their ears and tails to get rid of the flies. It was quite warm in the sun, so we were all glad to reach the shade of the forest and arrived at the end of the long open green that runs a straight line from the end of the island all the way up to the palace. It certainly has a great effect.
... We felt very sorry for her as she headed off to repack and are very glad we took the time to juggle our luggage, making sure we were within our limits. We decided that the luggage scales we brought before we left Australia was certainly worth it.
Well, we are about to board the 10.35pm Emirates flight from Munich to Dubai, the first leg of our 28 hour trip back to Mackay.
