    ... climbing an almost vertical path to reach the top of the pass some 740 meters higher. Once again the weather was hot and we found ourselves dripping with sweat as we struggled to the top.

    However all was not in vain as we were greeted by a stunning view of crystal clear lakes where we stopped for a picnic lunch.

    Waking up stiff, we decided that we should take the day off. So we spent the morning doing some office work before walking into town to do a bit of grocery shopping.

    Our plan was to introduce the Swiss to some rugby and so we set off for Stef's house armed with my computer and mini projector.

    No rest for the wicked apparently, so on with the hiking boots and hit the road.

    We caught a bus down to La Punt before heading up and up and up some more into the mountains until we got to a mountain hut called Escha Hut. The weather was really hot and I think we were both on our limits of endurance.

    ... Mont Blanc which I believe is about 4,800 metres. The town of Chamonix is at the base of it and is a major ski village in winter, and a base for hikers, mountain bikers and tourists in summer. We got there late one afternoon and planned the next day for me to go up the Auguille du Midi cable car to see Mont Blanc up close and for Phillip to go for a ride up some of the smaller peaks in the area.
