Arrived at Narita Airport just after 6am local time. Had about 4 hours to kill here and have decided already that I want to come back. Everyone terribly polite and everything just seems to work really well - even though I don't leave the airport.

... to 'give it a try'....brilliant. I then walked through departures in a bit of a daze panicking completely that Japan was going to refuse me entry, ****, what the hell would I do if that happened?! So on the plane I did a bit of trading in my guidebook and it said UK citizens would have no problem, it's just US and Aussie residents who need proof of a return flight, thank god! I was still a little worried but it stopped the palpitations ...

... started to tell me how he had just come back from Thailand and how he had been ripped off. Apparently a Lady Boy had followed him for two weeks, broke into his accommodation, tried to blackmail him, ripped up his passport (he showed me his old passport and new temporary passport) and generally had a **** time.
