... hits, the tent comes down. For my part, I've done some modifications to my outside space that make me feel much more secure. It's been a bit of a running joke, actually. The location of my container right now is in a relatively high traffic area, and for a few weeks it felt like every time someone walked by I was out there fiddling with my tarps or up on my roof. After a while, folks would walk by, they'd smile and say hi, and then roll their eyes...."yep!, ...

... and our lives across the globe. Damn, I wish Australia was closer to California! Together , we were the inn's only guests. We floated around the premises in our kimonos which forced us to pay attention and enjoy the art of walking slowly and stay in tune with our sensory awareness. The scenery was varied and beautiful, and the train window acted as my personal television screen. I arrived in Toyama with enough time to unpack my room, take a shower and attend ...

My personal observations of Japan so far are: 1) everything here is clean, clean, clean. Whether it be the trains, buses, restaurants or restrooms... things are spotless. 2) the Japanese people are super friendly, welcoming, and love to practice their English. They try to help whenever possible. 3) the transportation system runs on time... to the minute. Luckily for the Hurwitz family, punctuality is our middle name - ...

When I managed to find an online timetable the night before I realised I was cutting it too fine. I would only have 8 minutes at Toyama to change train stations, buy a ticket and sort out my baggage. So I set my alarm for 6:30 in order to get to the Kanazawa station and change my ticket. As it turned out I was awake at six which fortunate as the train I wanted to change to was 70 minutes earlier rather than the 60 ...
