Our last full day in the region known as Franche-Comte was spent out of the region. Out of the country in fact. The region wasn't well known to us - it didn't make much of an entry in the Lonely Planet bible.The area is well worth visiting especially as the tourists haven't had much of an impact on the area yet. When we finally arrived back at Beate's house, she had a little surprise for me: a Black Forest Cake. Turns out that she went to six different bakeries in search of a cake for me but each one told her that it was the wrong season for it -- the cream doesn't last in the heat.
