Heads bobbed, bodies floated, people just slipped on by. Our initial reactions were mixed between 'cool' and 'crazy'. After all, mountain river, remember, and anyone that has been swimming in any river at any time in Canada knows - they aren't warm. Especially if they're moving as quick as this one was. ... was really cold in the open train station, a welcome change from swealtering Barcelona. We put our bags in a locker and took off on yet another Rick Steves self-guided tour: Welcome to Bern! In the Swiss capitol, we saw the Swiss National Bank (apparently there is a bunch of gold hidden under the square), Parliament was just next door, some excellent views of the Aare River and my favorite part of the visit, the Bear Pits. The bear is the symbol for Bern ...
