Now you see it.. now you don't

We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!
Well, fancy meeting you here!!

... both up the hills and down them!! They had just made it through the Flueelapass, but they had lost brakes, and so the vehicle was left on the road and they put their stuff in another vehicle to get to the nearby campsite. A short night later, they eventually got back to their vehicle, and found that it was OK to drive. Gaz had removed the bonnet, to allow the engine to cool more easily.

They ...

Of course the other half of the team was blissfully unaware of his forthcoming pain until the cuffs were snapped on, and the policeman took a good grip on the handcuffs ready for the photo!!
What a coup, we could hardly believe it.

So out of Vaduz, and travelling on to Switzerland.
... Feldkirch I got lost. Actually I was just trying to get to McDonald's because the group wanted a bathroom break and the public toilets here were not to our standards. Anyway, I drove past the McDonald's twice - once my fault and once the navigator's - and drove down a pedestrian only section of road before we gave up and continued on our journey out of town and deeper into Austria.

Quck jaunt to Liechtenstein

... get on the bus I watched southern Liechtenstein roll past on the way to Vaduz. Cute villages with quaint houses, cows grazing in green pastures, and a castle sitting on a high hill surrounded by vineyards.

Vaduz is a very nice city. The royal residence, a castle of course, sits on a high cliff directly above the city centre. The main street is a pedestrian street with shops and restaurants, museums, the tourist office, the ...

Christmas rail trip 4: AROSA

... of a Swiss skiing village: two lakes , two ice rinks, a dozen horse & sleigh drivers and one terrific ski resort. After spending the first day getting acclimated with the new altitude, renting our skis and settling into our hotel/hostel we head out for the official meal of Switzerland: fondue. This was obviously a dream come true for Tamara. We were joined that day by our friend Megan from New York and the six of us put away four hearty pots of cheese ...

... and threw our stuff in it! Oh, wait, I for got to tell ya, as we awoke this morning it was raining and it ended up raining on and off the whole day! After throwing our stuff in the locker, we decided not to take the bus to Liechtenstein but to just walk because Dad said it was really close! We walked about 10 min. and found ourselves at a large river and in ...

... villages. I took pictures from the bus and am hoping that they come out so that we can share them with you. We simply will not be able to describe the views. Heaven on earth! We disembarked in Tiefencastel to catch the train to St. Moritz. Again, I just can’t say enough about the scenery. The train ride to St. Moritz is indescribable. I know I’ve used the term before, but again it’s true! Riding the train in the mountains, going higher and higher, the mountains ...

Davos

... a wonderful sound! As we started on our walk, we noticed that the fog was starting to descend on the valley and the temperature was getting cooler. While we walked around town, it was quite obvious that Davos is much more cosmopolitan than Kitzbuhel, not as charming and quaint. This is not to disparage Davos, it’s just that after being in Kitzbuhel (and falling in love with it), it’s hard not to make comparisons. The population in Davos is around 30,000.

As ...
