It was a long drive from Paris (basically all day, with a few of what we call service stops). Lots of beautiful scenery, especially once we were approaching the Jungfrau. Switzerland really is gorgeous! Green grassy hills in the valleys, with massive, steep, snow topped mountains. No one has much of a garden and most of the cows have bells around …

What a difference a day makes, yesterday we had just got to Geneva and we were enjoying some local beers and dinner, a day before that we had been soaking up the sun on the gorgeous island of Santorini, now we are on a train to the Swiss Alps having a dinner of focaccia and coke and staring into the endless black that is our train window.

They sell many 007 souvenirs, there are 007 decals on the windows, and the waiters even have 007 embroidered on their shirts. What they don't tell you is that the movie was In Her Majesty's Secret Service, the one James Bond movie starring George Lazenby. Have you ever heard of George Lazenby? Of course not! George Lazenby's grand kids don't even ...

After a long day yesterday exploring Aix-les-Bains and a cruise of Le Lac du Bourget, getting up at 5:45 this morning was a bit rough, but it was definitely worth it as I crossed into Switzerland and saw the vast, rolling landscapes full of greenery and scattered with sheep. The Swiss train stations do not seem to be as technological as the rest that I have seen and therefore sent me into a panic when one of my trains was supposed to be departing in 3 minutes at a ...
