      ... sound of cowbells and sheep bells was common everywhere we went. Very peaceful. We were rarely near any roads or the sound of cars. On some stretches of the trail we saw no one for an hour or two.

      ... time.

      We have been in remote country for the last few days. Haven't seen a store, and rarely even a house since we left Les Contamines.

      Our last refuge in France was de Mottets, quite a relief after the night before. Although it had been converted from a dairy farm, it had spacious, modern rest rooms, hot showers, semi-private bed room (Barbara only had to share with 3 guys this time).

      Lots of steep uphill today, finally reaching one of the highest points of the whole trip, the Col du Bonhomme

      At one point Barbara thought she was being attacked by a bull, but after scrambling up a rock to escape it turned out to be a cow with horns in a frisky mood!
