Hotel Allalin Zermatt

All of the good things you see in other reviews we found to be true. A simply excellent hotel. Having spent many ski holidays in Europe , we found this hotel to be the very best value- no disappointments.. A friend was staying at the 5 star Mount Cervin, paying twice what we were, and our room was more spacious. The location is steps from the ski shuttle, breakfast quite good- yes, they serve eggs,( but no toast). Staff are absolutely wonderful. Ask for the room on the 5th floor facing the Matterhorn. It has a skylight in the bathroom which makes it lovely and light, and the view of the Matterhorn is an everchanging marvel.

My family and I just got back from Zermatt and stayed at the very plesant Allalin Hotel. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were up to date and clean. We particularly enjoyed the wood carvings that covered the ceilings. The breakfast that they served in the morning was lovely as was the staff. Also worth mentioning is the location....truly fantastic. The only drawback to this hotel is the fact that it faces a small graveyard for skiers and climbers.

We stayed four nights in this hotel and loved it. Beautiful, modern facility. Great location. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgable. Great breakfast. Price was quite reasonable--we stayed in a facility in Interlaken which was more expensive and not nearly as nice. You won't be sorry!

My wife and I stayed at the Allalin Hotel in September 2005. It was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our 2 weeks in Switzerland. The hotel staff arranged to pick us up at the Zermatt bahnhoff free of charge. Just call them from the visitor center adjacent to the bahnhoff. The hotel is on a quiet street two blocks off the main drag within a half mile walk of either the funicular or the tram to high trails. A rushing river adjacent to the hotel provides a nice backdrop. The two Sandra's working the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean with a fantastic view of the Matterhorn. The woodwork in the lobby, breakfast room and guest rooms was truly amazing. The waitresses serving complimentary breakfast were very personable and efficient. The breakfast was usual Swiss (can you say Cheese!)but very well presented.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights in the Allalin in September 2005. The hotel is conveniently situated in relation to the restaurants and shops. The room we stayed in was clean and a reasonable size and had a good view of the Matterhorn. The decor was very pleasing and the bathroom was also of a good standard. The breakfast buffet was adequate and replenished regularly but I would have liked to have seen a larger range. I was impressed by the small gifts, welcome notes, etc which added to the enjoyable stay. Zermatt is a wonderful village and I would recommend Max Julen's restaurant in the same block. Hopefully we will be back next year to enjoy the Allalin

We stayed at the Hotel Allalin for three nights in May 2005. What an incredibly clean and friendly hotel/home-away-from-home. We were greeted upon arrival with a welcome drink.

From the delicious breakfast in the morning, to the afternoon treat and beverage - we loved our stay at this super-friendly hotel.

We received excellent tips for excursions and dining opportunities from the staff. Sandra was most helpful and so very patient with all of our many questions.

I would strongly recommend the Hotel Allalin for your trip to Zermatt. They are in the middle of town - just a short walk from EVERYTHING! The room was spotless, the beds comfortable, and the room was non-smoking. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else!

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Hotel Allalin. Every aspect of our time there was pleasant. We felt about as at home as we could get at a hotel.

The staff was the most cheerful and attentive we have come across in all of our stays in the Alps.

They provided several nice little touches, such as homemade chocolates upon arrival and departure. Every afternoon, they had a lovely drink and snack available. The lounge was so comfortable, and they have free internet usage, which was a nice perk.

The rooms were clean and spacious enough. We found our room to have a lot of character with its wood carvings. I imagine it to be the same in each room. Several of the rooms have incredible views of the Matterhorn.

We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to Zermatt.

The Hotel Allalin was tremendous! Beginning with the prompt pick up from the train station by the porter, to the reception staff, to the great breakfasts, to the tremendous location, to the cleanliness of the entire hotel, to the ski room, to the nightly treats in the lounge, to the wonderful woodwork throughout the hotel, to the views of the Matterhorn, to the quietness of the setting....I guess you get the point that this is a great place to stay in Zermatt.

We stayed for two days at the Hotel Allalin and it was a refreshing change from most other hotels. The decor is different and of course its position at the end of the beautiful village of Zermatt is a great bonus. Staff were very helpful, but then so are most of the Swiss we met!The only thing missing was a view of the Matterhorn from the room where we were staying.

In a great location 50 metres from the centre of town, yet quiet! Only 10 metres from the ski-bus to any of the slopes. The service was great.

It really felt like staying with a family. All the staff were very attentive providing excellent information and recommendations. The rooms are not large but they are nicely furnished and are big enough.

Very clean. A very cosy bar atmosphere all day and an excellent breakfast to get ready for the piste. We were able to ski back to within 50 metres. Defintely would stay again.
