Cheers!

Well, starting off my big adventure in the sleepy town of Bacolod. The folks here are a hospitable lot, and gave me free lodging for a poor tourist like me. Lol.

No seriously, it pays to have an online friend willing to give you a hand. ;)

Checking my connecting flights off for Sydney! See you in my next post!

... bad news is after Hong Kong comes India – Paul thinks I might have several more stays in hospital before the trip is over although I think it’s Paul’s turn to get ill next time!

And so there are only 65 days left… or so we thought. Our useless, incompetent estate agent who let our apartment made a mistake that means we ...

Bacolod

... city. I really ouldnt get a favour of Bacolod but the 1st impressions were not all that good. I ate, used the internet and generaly killed time, got up in the morning to not too much of a better scene so I decided to leave straight away. Most people head to the beaches from here but beaches by yourself are just boring, so I am heading down to Dumaguete - hopefully to do some diving :-)

Marvelous Mt. Kanlaon

... Further tampering of Mt. Kanlaon is a blatant violation of Nipas law, Watershed law, Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park law, and the Wildlife Resources and Conservation Act of the Philippines (RA 9147) ... The benefits and importance of the natural forest like that found in Mt. Kanlaon CANNOT BE REPLACED AND/OR COMPENSATED through artificial means. ONCE destroyed, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLACE.

Landed, ate, drank and was very, very merry

... glimpse on what happens to Bacolod when the night falls. M and I first checked out a local night out strip called Goldenfield - or was it Goldenfield's? Honestly, it was not my sort of place. It was a packed full of blaring bars and restaurants overflowing with loud kids. Could I be because of old age? Man! That's not good - there's so much more to do. ♪ We had some beer and moved to Piazza Sorrento. It's a lifestyle building of sorts that ...

Merry Tropical Christmas!

... get everyone together. That night we all dressed to the nines for midnight mass and though it was awhile till the mass started, the church was already packed and flowing outside. Luckily they set up some seats for the overflow, as Christmas mass was longer than regular Sunday mass. We could barely sit through the almost two hour mass in the heat so that we could rush home to our air-conditioned home and dig into the sumptous feast we knew was awaiting us. It must have been a ...
