... and lunch for tomorrow.
We made a huge bowl of pop corn this afternoon. It was so very good, our first pop corn in 10 or so months. We found some popping corn the other day and having the stove here we made it easy.
Super was pyrogies and kielbasa, it even tasted pretty close to Strikers meat ring. We bought some rye bread and it was good, not quite the same as Kub bread but close to it.
Another great day.
Tomorrow we move on to Prague.
So many people talk of Krakow being one of the most beautiful citys in Europe. I am one of those critical ones who wants to make their own judgements on things and quite often I've found myself disagreeing with some major common opinions..
My friend Aneta invited me to join her and her friends in Krakow for a weekend in June. Of course being very excited as usual, I was shouting it aloud to all human kind that I ...
... has become Krakow's symbol. Shabbat and Friday night games We went back to the Rama shule for Shabbat, but the women's section was closed for renovations, so the 22 girls went to Eli's room for a "service" and pillow fights. This old guy saw our madrich Buff's cool dreadlocks and, in his thick Yiddish accent, paid him out: "Zees ees telleebul". The others were more friendly, the Rabbi asked Slosh and I if we'd like to lead the ma'ariv service, but we didn't really know it ...
Krakow, Poland danestern... is it? A falling down shed on a garbage pile... Not at all! It is proabably in the top three that I have stayed at thus far. There was free laundry, which I am in the process of doing, free internet (which Im taking advantage of right now) and free breakfast at a Lunch bar. Im excited for tomorrow morning already! I ran from reception to my room, hoping that if they made a mistake they wouldnt notice, kind of like that old Ikea commercial ...
Krakow, Southern Poland, Poland dhrycun... and beauty that Prague has. (I may be a little biased seeing as I live in Prague). We stayed at a Holiday Inn very close to the Main Market Square, which was nice. Driving to Krakow was interesting as the roads in Poland are not in great shape, but at least we didn't get lost this time around. The Euro-Cup Football (soccer ...
Krakow, Southern Poland, Poland karliWe flew in on a little puddle-jumper from Italy in an airport which I think is smaller than ABE. We were able to flag down a mini-van cab and load all six of our suitcases into the back and all four of us in front (Katrina's mom and brother are along for the Poland part of trip). Driving into town wasn't overly impressive. Lots farmland and signs in Polish that I couldn't read. As arrived in Krakow, on our ...
Krakow, Poland ejabbourGot to Krakow this morning at 5.00 after another night of sleep interrupted by passport control (we had to cross two borders). We made our way to the square in the town centre (which is the biggest in Europe so I'm told) and sat there for a while taking in the surroundings. We then made our way to a hostel and booked ourselves in. We were very pleased to hear it would only cost 60 Zlote for 2 nights, which is about a tenner. After ...
Krakow, Poland tomshearerWe arrived in the early morning (6 am) in Crackho from the overnight train. Contrary to our tourist book there were not throngs of grandmas out to greet us and offer us cheap and cozy accommodations. However we did hook up with some bubbly young people who were more than happy to cart us off to their hostel. We got our own room but had to share the dorm style bathrooms with some dirty backpackers who we barely saw but heard every so often.1 The main thing to do in Crackho ...
Krakow, Poland fezmonkeyHey guys ! Today was beautiful! We had a nice breakfast and coffee with Ewa and then afterwards Emilee and I walked to town. We walked along the river and to the old market square and visited old cathedrals and after that we did quite a bit of shopping. WE got some cool ...
Krakow, Poland josee... he chose to lead tours through a low-ceilinged salt mine with his head and neck constantly cocked uncomfortably sideways. The salt gnomes, flashing lights and Disney-like voiceovers provided the hokiness. The wonder was provided by the beautiful Chapel of St. Kinga whose soaring heights, salt chandeliers and reliefs were hand-hewn by three talented miners over 70 years. There's also a restaurant carved from salt in the salt mine--we hear the food's oversalted.
