Hotel Alexander San Remo

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

I know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote d´Azur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote d´Azur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...

Keeping Clean... the shower offensive Scooby is only the size of a delivery van... 4.8m Long and 2.3m Wide... fits snuggly into a shopping car park space. Height is not an issue as he is 2.6m tall so plenty of room for us shorties! The point is that space on the inside is at a premium, so the shower is "cosy"... but it does the job. Best of all we have a gas water boiler so the water is HOT HOT HOT!! We need to fill up our water tank every few days as there is only enough ...

Sinon le reste c'est bien passé, très jolie et température bien apprécié.

On this morning we left Switzerland and travelled south into Italy en-route to the French Riviera. The scenery was pretty spectacular, with snow-white capped, jagged mountains that seemed to swallow the highway. Surreal!

... meager with dinners, eating whatever the roast of the day was at the hostel for 6.50 or slightly dodgy pizzas, which were sometimes nice, and sometimes not. So yeah, nice to treat ourselves.

Our stay in the hotel was was lovely and we've decided to try and treat ourselves before we get to that shabby state again. Its amazing how quickly you forget the basic luxuries; one bed without a seam or a bar in the middle, one doona to share rather than two small single ones, a bathmat and ...

... day. I wanted to get a better feel of the city so I strolled through Nice for a few more hours into the dark until my feet could walk no more. After crawling back to the hostel, I met the other new roommate who was really great and we got along immediately sharing stories, it was only a matter of minutes before we were back on the streets to grab a beer at a nearby pub. Nice was a good pick to stop at on my journey toward Venice.

France so far has been different...between the two of us, when we arrived all we knew was please, 1,2,3, and we think no is the same. so basically we speak no french...and no one hear seems to speak english. moving on...so we missed the bus, or rather the stupid guy just missed us. so at that point we're like, lets go back to the hostel and maybe take a siesta, then go to Monaco later. its like 4 ish now ...
