Arriving at Karpathos airport at 8:25pm Greek time I have no idea who I'm meeting so I wait to be singled out as 'the man with the red bag’ and sure enough a slim lady with silver hair and glasses soon makes for me, closely followed by a well-built man with pale skin and curly hair tinged with red, wearing a check shirt and dungarees. Unfortunately there is no view of the Acropolis from there but it's very close, as are the major squares of Monastiraki and Syntagma. We spent our last morning in Santorini hanging out by the pool at Ira studios. We felt a pang at having to leave this beautiful island which we had finally grown to love, and hoped Athens would provide an equally enjoyable experience.
