Carretera Somo Somo, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands, 39140 , 942511910-
A very pretty (cobbled alleyways, olde worlde stylee, cows in a field with not only udders, but also tuneful bells which, when youºve got a dozen, made quite a din a la Mike Oldfield) little town, unlike the campsite which was essentially a sodden piece of grass, for which we were charged Euro 22, for the pleasure of a night's shut-eye.
Santillana del Mar, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands lymandannabelleLeaving San Sebastian behind we drove to Santander to spend the night. With nothing more then the car, no place to stay and no plan. As luck turns out we found a cheap Pension to stay at, and ate in their quaint little restaurant, treated to warm hospitality, good food, and free Grappa and Lemonchelo
Santander, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands sofenjonYesterday night was supposed to be the last night in Santander, but the plans have now changed - I'm liking it so much here that I'm staying an extra night. This means that Bilbao will be cut from the itinerary but really, having already been there twice, there's not much left to see. Bilbao's a funny town - I've explained to friends that as a tourist, other than the Guggenheim there isn't a big draw. But I still loved it there last year because I ...
Santillana del Mar, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands pwong... it fun, which is something I miss about Oviedo, Leon, and Burgos. I tried a bit, but the residential areas of El Sardinero just weren't the same. Though on my walk, I did manage to find a kebab shop and a cheap cafe, so budget options do in fact exist here. And walking along the beach front is still fun, because it's so lively. Too bad it was quite a warm, humid night without any breeze, otherwise it would have been an even more enjoyable ...
Santander, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands pwong... available back in Calgary. I've mentioned time and time again in these blogs, visits to Zara in Spain are enjoyable because of all the Spanish salesgirls staffing the stores, and Spanish women shopping there :) I don't think I've ever been disappointed with a visit to one of the Spanish locations, but surprisingly, this time I was.

Sfera wasn't too far away, another Spanish clothing chain - I haven't visited too many of these in Spain ...
Santander, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands pwong... the presence of Spanish television is still
enough to make her remember what she's missing. Daytime telly is the
same in any language that could be “mierda” or whatever Spanish
is for “lowest common denominator” , but the diary magazine
programmes they have in Spain are from another era to say the least.
Take for example the coverage of the “Tractores y Chocolate
Festival” in a nearby village. The premise is this ...
Santander, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands warmMonday 11th May 2009

And so it begins. Woke this morning, and a multitude of times through the night, to the sweet symphony of snooring in the recling seat lounce aboard the dreamliner Pont Aven. Imagine a Hells Angels meet cascading into your left ear with your right ear pressed against the gates of hell and you have a rough idea of the sounds i was greeted into the day by ...
Laredo, Spain sh3251Not going to Germany like I have purchased tickets for. I would have had to leave at 12:30, and there is no way I could have put myself through that. Im whiped. Plus there is no place for me to stay, and the girls I would go with have differnt places to go and no plans of anything to do/see. Not to mention the 100 euro train ticket! No thank you! Chilling with my friends tomorrow. We will eat pizza and watch Ditry dancing. Relaxing is nice!
Santander, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands jschae13... we can stay to this schedule. Everything is done later at night this time of year in Spain, so we don't want them crashing at their normal 8pm bedtime, ya know? After tea and bread, we took a stroll down to the Ayuntamiento (town hall) where the local public library, and my internet!, is located. They are usually open M -F from 9am - 3pm, but they were closed yesterday because of the holiday being celebrated in Pie de Concha. I've decided I ...
Orena, Spain and Canary Islands styrsky... day so I walked around the city a lot and enjoyed the sun, I visited Corte Inglés which is basically a combination department store/supermarket/restaurant. It´s a bit hard to explain because there´s nothing in the states like this, well not that I know of, but just picture a 8 story building with each floor containing different types of products (clothes, home decor, perfume, etc. ) but one of the floors has a supermarket and one has a restaurant ...
