... on the way. After a few hours, and a stop for a slice of pizza or focaccia, we ducked into a patisserie for pastries to take back to our warm hotel. Spent a couple of hours at leisure, then had a call from the kids room, "It's snowing!". Reception booked dinner for us at a restaurant, Hostaria all'Ombra, for 7pm. ... find a cafe that Jess said did the Aperitivo thing where you can buy a drink and eat all the food on display. The only problem was that they were only open for lunch. We followed my directions back over Rialto Bridge to get to what the Internet says is only of the only reasonably priced restaurants in Venice, but it was only open for lunch as well. We wandered at random until we found a tiny trattoria with what seemed like it had reasonably priced menu items, ...

... benefit of each city we visit, we need to go through perhaps a little discomfort.

It’s Monday night and we can say that after being in Venice for about 5 hours we have already felt much more settled than when we arrived. Enjoyed a pleasant walk over to the Rialto Bridge and then had dinner nearby. There are just so many interesting shops with beautiful wares and lovely areas to sit and wander about, and places to eat gelati and drink coffee.

... in touristy areas is forbidden.
After lunch we wandered more, the boys bought pizza by the slice and gelato ( which they had been searching for all day) and then we found supplies for tonight's dinner ( chicken, salad, potato and more red wine).

... gelato before heading to the train station. When we got off the vaporetto at the train station John realized that he had been pick pocketed! It must have happened in the crush of people in San Marco. He lost his wallet right out of his front pocket in his shorts - gone was 200Euro, his credit card, debit card and driver licence.
