    ... such beautiful autumn colour; green, yellow, orange and red in the liquid amber, birch and oak trees. In the thick of the forest, on the side of the street, we saw a large stainless steel door embedded in to a rock face. Marcello later told us that the door was the entry to a 1000 bed hospital built back into the the mountain and fully equipped to manage any situation which might arise. Incredible and so unassuming!     We walked around the town of Tirano. It was no great shakes, but we had lunch of pizza and a carafe of red wine. Eldon wasn't driving so he could enjoy himself as well.
