... and the fastest speed allowed on the fastest roads is 90kph which is about 50mph.
At first one finds this terribly slow and boring but with all the scenery around I often found myself plodding along even slower than the allowable speed.
I found the people in Norway to be extremely friendly and would just about always chat or at least give you a smile on passing. Once they know your from Scotland you are their best friend.

Almost immediately after we got to our hostel it started pouring rain, so we ran up the EXTREMELY steep stairs to our hostel, checked in and then climbed another four sets of steep stairs! After an adventurous train ride (malfunctions, 4 transfers, no English, friendly travellers who were all in the same boat) we finally made it to Amsterdam Centraal, one of the most beautiful trains stations we have seen so far. We met our hosts at the apartment after a short and (thankfully) uneventful tram ride.
