... hours with my host Nai and the italian guy he's also hosting (which I'm not a fan of). Nai is super nice but the Italian guy is a bit weird. It's all good, just not a fan..
Tomorrow afternoon I should be heading into Amsterdam.. Hopefully it won't be raining quite so much there.
So we went to Den Haag and found the Scheveningen Beach!!! YAHOO It wasnt swimming weather but the beach made all 3 of us HAPPY!! So happy that we had a pizza and you guessed it BEER picnic on the beach. Later that night we watched some fantastic fireworks by the pier on the beach. All in all...it was AMAZING!!!
Scheveningen, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands sobby... Haarlem was filled with authentic old Dutch organs holding some sort of a competition. Juuls took a shot at pretty much every one of them! Walking around we'd come to the riverside and we sat down to enjoy our view of Adriaan's windmill and, to have a bit of a break from the organs playfulness. When you come near the big market (Grote Markt) notice the building with all the animal heads: it is magnificent and it may or may not have been an auction place of sorts ...
Noordwijkerhout, Netherlands verlander... You feel like you are looking over Van Gogh's shoulder at his pics, or maybe you see the world in terms of his delicate brushstrokes, or maybe you just hallucinate yourself into the picture. Then we went to the Red Light District, which was a trippy experience. We looked at the sexy *****s in the window, and I would even make contact with them and flirt back a little. The trippy moment came when I realized that I was looking a legitimate slut in the eyes, and she was looking ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands jklegit13... that no one has probably ever seen before. Don't worry, that 1.6 liter gas engine didn't allow me to go as fast as I would have in any of my previous cars from back home but I did manage a steady 175 kmh. If you think that's fast I constantly had to move to the right lane because uber cool German sedans flew past me and dissapeared within 5-10 seconds. Driving into Munich was easy; driving in ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands rudeal... about the stairs, climbing and descending them as little as possible, but she will become used to them over our days in Amsterdam. After hauling all our things into the apartment, Gary and I head out to the airport, and after circling around and wending our way there, we finally manage to beat aside traffic and occupy the correct lane taking us to the airport and the car return location. It seems that we didn't cause any great ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands rindy... We toured the Anne Frank House and had a wonderful dinner. Tomorrow we are off on a tour of the city and we are meeting some friends for dinner. It turns out, one of the people on the teacher trip is coming here with his wife and Mike and I are going to visit with them. I am sure getting used to no responsibility!
Amsterdam, Netherlands snice... the weather when we woke up the next day as our plans were to ride to the country side. Although the signs were not good, we still risked it and hired bikes. I was very sceptical about this choice during the first half an hour as it was raining and windy but it cleared up by the time we got to our destination: Zaanse Schaanse. We were told that it was a quaint little authentic village but it was unbelievably touristy. Bus loads of ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands leahandgreg... and why it is a penalty (in Dutch of course) - The fans love whistles and air horns - quite annoying - The cheerleader routines are like something you would see in the Red Light district - Beer is served in cans, and your hot dog on a hamburger bun Still - football is football. The Admirals, who boast Kurt Warner and Adam Vinateiri as alums (see the ring of honor photo) won the World Bowl last year, but given ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands the_mcdonoughs... after I left that McDonald's. The poor woman...I only wish I had had more money on me. Amsterdam was a good city to wander around and party but I did think it got old fast. A little too touristy, too expensive and, really too many college students...I wasn't really looking for a frat party and I ended up leaving a day earlier than planned. I grabbing a late night train out that put me in Wolfsburg the next day.
