Don't think I've ever come across a friendly border control official before! Marion and Dave were waiting for us and it was so good to see them. We went to the Wetherby Whaler for lunch and I had Plaice and chips and mushy pease - ...

The day started promising enough as it was very mild but also early so we weren't sure if the rain was coming or the clouds just hadn't lifted. ... myself good time to get ready. The washing I had done the night before needed another wringing out and I opened the bathroom window to hang a couple of pieces on the railing outside my window. It looked to be the kind of day when things would dry and fresh air always dries better. I set aside the items I wanted to post so that when I brought back the postpacks, I could drop things in easily. I checked mail, wrote a few messages then headed down for the best breakfast so far on ...

Weekend Excursion to Venice

... in water. This is due to Venice being a man made "city on the water", and one which is slowly sinking further into the sea. Our first night we were told to be back in our hotel by 10 to avoid being caught in the flooding. After eating dinner near a canal in the middle of the city we started walking back but got lost along the way. As 10 o'clock approached and the water level kept rising the whole city was filled with the sound of an old WWII siren which they now use to warn citizens ...
