... s, crazy parking (we never parked on a corner or double parked so we are clearly not locals!) snowy mountain roads and everything in between. I must admit, I was relieved to sign it back in. We have checked in at an Airport hotel tonight to save us having to drive through the "traffico intenso" tomorrow morning. It is almost goodbye Italy, for now ...

I've only got a couple of days, so it's going to be pretty superficial tour--but considering how much time I put into some of these other regions, I suppose I can be a little superficial on this one. I'd really like to feel like I've almost finished exploring northern Italy Piedmont was one of the ...

... back down to the lake with a return journey by either ferry or train. The walk starts at Stresa - 199 m, climbs to the cemetery at St Albino - 390 m. Signor is, as always, optimistic and confuses metres with feet. We head off, as usual, in the full heat of the mid-day sun - it's 38 c. Signora carries the back pack - a litre of water for me, a litre of lemonade for her and six cans of beer for guess who. Signor carries the camera and dog lead. The walk starts steeply past beautiful ...
