    ... Ancient Corinth which was also a score, because it turned out that we were there on the free museum day! Yippee!! We also stayed in a lovely Stellplatz where we were offered Greek coffee and an English-speaking grandson to act as translator.

    From Corinth, we had hoped to get down to Sparta so that we could base ourselves there to see Mystros, etc, but it snowed again! And that meant that the road down to Sparta was closed... again! Hmmm, a quick change of ...

    ... the old city walls. They separate the old historic town from the much newer one surrounding it now, which has gradually developed over the years.     ... of note and beauty to Joy to study and write about.....but this one small painting was in her head.

    3 hours later she wandered out the gallery, tablet full of notes,head full of colours, compositions, brush strokes etc., and Bianca Sforza....and strolled down the hill to meet Michael for lunch.

    ... and changed over the years, you still are very much aware that you are in a family home of that time. As well as original paintings by Raphael's father, himself a much in demand painter, the highlight is a painting of the madonna and child by the young Raphael, and you can plainly discern the wonderful capture of light and colour which was to make him famous in later years.

    ... we seemed to be the only non nationals and the oldest people there...what harm....we were out to have fun and enjoy the experience and we double checked the menu as to what we fancied.
