... say that we didn't make the mistake of forgetting this rule and had to go fishing in the toilet! She took the girls upstairs to the terrace - where we would be sleeping in hammocks under the stars. It wasn't until the next morning when everyone woke up with mosquito bites all over that we realized why this seemingly tranquil accomodation was so cheap!
We left our stuff at the hostel and made our way down to the beach. I am happy to say that I ...
... and Cameron Diaz in it. I hope they get a part! Lunch was interesting and kind of like eating in a Chinese restaurant as the plates just kept coming! After lunch we said goodbye to the sons and continued walking and finally ended up back at the ship but not before taking a rest in the Plaza DE Espana across from the ship. When we were there the park cat ladies came by and fed the wild cats who were pretty friendly. Great ending to a very nice day!
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mamafeathers... of the sweetest sherry called "Nectar" for 8 Euro. I really didn’t like their regular sherry though. They were pretty cool though. When celebrities or royalty come visit, they have them sign a barrel of Tio Pepe instead of signing a guestbook! And they have a family of mice that are sherry connoisseurs. One of the distillery ...
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands big_red_truck... the way we stopped in Olvera so Mike could get his photo of the village and church tower. We arrived to Nerja very late and couldn't plug in the address in our handy-dandy gps - so we had to call the owner in the UK to give us directions. it was kind of late by the time we got to the house (after midnight). ugh! this was a long, long day! But, we're excited to be at the beach for the next 7 days. Shae can't wait to get her feet wet in the mediterranean.
... La Rabida, whose abbot financed an exploratory voyage in 1492 by one Cristobal Colon (how the name translated to Christopher Columbus I do not know). Replicas of the three ships, Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria, which themselves copied the voyage 500 years later, are moored here, in almost the same spot as they set off from on their epic voyage. The setting does not really do them justice, with the backdrop of petrochemical ...
El Rocio, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands oldagetraveller... where we bought a few cans of the Cruzcampo beer and a 1.5 L bottle of Tinto de Verano - a type of cheap red wine with lemonade. We went to see the pier with the Castillo de San Sebastian, the Castillo de Santa Catalina, the cathedral, the old town and the beautiful Parque Genoves with waterfalls and parrots, and it was pretty much everything, so we went to the famous la Caleta beach and enjoyed ourselves there.
To my surprise, the beach was full of people ...
We arrived back in Seville under a heavy sky, handed back our car and booked into the first hotel we could find down a tiny backstreet behind the Alcazares. An attempt at visiting the Triana quarter was hampered by impending rainclouds and bad-tempered bus drivers who refiused to let us on without the correct change. INstead we visited our favourite locations around the Cathedral, popping in and out of the tacky tourist shops and ...
Chipiona, Spain pulcinella_25... a costume, and I kind of felt out of place. EVERYONE was in costume, regardless of age. People in Spain generally stay awake later and wake up later, which is why the party started a little later. We got in around 7:30 or 8, got some dinner off of a street vendor and hung out in one of the plazas watching a group of singers while we waited for things to get rolling. Downtown Cadiz is very big with a lot of plazas, and just about every plaza had a ...
Cádiz, Spain laura.tagatac... wishing I WAS sleeping after that) we packed our bags, drank some coffee, and began our walk to the Hotel Sevilla Center for the last time this semester. We stopped at the grocery store to pick up food for the weekend and several boxes of red wine and orange soda for a weekend supply of Tinto de Verano... only the best for us! =) The winery we went to was in Jerez, which is famous for it's sherries and brandies. I was able to get in on the English tour this time (lol ...
