... So that was our bit of fun at the fair!
The next place we visited was Napoleon's tomb. It is in L'Hôtel national des Invalides which was a hospital for the soldiers in the war. It now contains memorials, military history and tombs for famous veterans including Napoleon Bonaparte. It is quite an impressive building. Napoleon's coffin is huge!!

... including Marie Antoinette's cell where she was held for two months before her execution. We plan to visit Versailles tomorrow so we'll see the life of luxury that brought her to her final home at the Conciergerie.

... a museum of African and Native art. Very interesting and felt at home in the Aboriginal section. More walking brought us to the Eiffel Tower followed by a leisurely walk along the river to our digs. Achieved 8 hours walking. A short rest then off to the local Japanese restaurant for a feed. Today's accomplishment was to exceed the cost of our 4 day museums pass and another day to go. Now for a well earned rest and a cleansing ...
... of Ile de la Cite and visited the Palais de Justice and Sainte Chapelle, built by Louis IX between 1245 and 1248. Fortunately it was sunny outside to show off the stained glass windows to best effect, which I had hoped for.

On our first walkabout we have now seen, Notre Dame, walked along Rive Gauche past the booksellers and artists, crossed the Seine on Pont Neuf, caught a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, strolled Blvd Saint Michel and Saint Germain, eaten crepes smothered in Nutella. Ordered a dish of escargots, managing to encourage all three kids to try one, Cam and Sophie no problem, Victoria screwed her nose up but afterwards ...
