We travelled through thick fog over and through the mountains on typically heroic Spanish roads. They cut through mountains and build viaducts over the valleys. We drove through and around weary looking Pilgrims to our campsite which was on the Camino de Santiago. It was closed. After some interesting encounters with some locals, one old man practically ran away when asked for directions, we found this camp site.

Hi All
Sitting in a restaurant waiting for our pizzas - we are all done with bocadillos - dry, dry bread with slices of cheese and dried out ham. Sorry to say I forgot my hat two nights ago but we ended up at a albergue off the track which was a piece of heaven. The bunk beds which I have a permanent bruise on the top of my head from, were quite comfortable, complete with sheets and ...
... dessert crepe, and then naturally, some more coffee.... As we were eating and drinking, there was a street jazz musician sitting in the square playing music. Otherwise, the plaza was completely quiet, there was a gentle breeze, a few puffy clouds in the sky, and a giant, beautiful church presiding over this square. At this moment, we realized... this was about as European Perfect as it gets.
We finally left the restaurant after about 3 hours and went window ...
... and when the sculptor sent his finished work to the bishop, the bishop was displeased with the statue's ample bosom, saying it was inappropriate for a cathedral. So, the sculptor gave her a reduction and she was placed in the cathedral. However, the cheesemakers of Galicia were displeased with the bishop's decision, and decided that they would make the signature cheese of Galicia boob-shaped in the statue's honor. Gotta love the badass cheese-makers of 15th century ...

... islands provide a barrier to the inlet in Vigo - so when the tides rise and fall they do so in a way that provides a lot of plankton without a tremendous amount of pressure to the waterways inland. This is a perfect condition for farming oysters, mussels and scallops and we were able to see many examples of the 'beds' used for this farming. After about an hour and a half we reached Santiago de Compostela and walked through the charming ...
Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands jimstephkrueger... here, it is a return visit and people's Spanish is at a variety of levels. So, it has been important to figure out who is in the know and stick close to them. A couple of students got ripped off at a restaurant the first day we were here (they were charged almost $700 for a lunch of seafood that was charged by the kilo) so were are all sticking close and being cautious. Gary and Denise, the administrators from Sacramento, remind me so much of Uncle ...
Santiago de Compostela, Spain and Canary Islands jennmwarren... gave me chance to talk to Ant, Lenny and Andrea briefly, me and Ant congratulating each other on an amazing feat, finally achieved. Just 20 meters from the Square, I lost Ant, turns out he was chatting to a girl!...but i waited under the arch to the square with just one corner left to turn. We waked in, side by side and looked up to our left and saw the twin spires of the magnificent ...
Santiago de Compostela, Spain gregdedman... any sign of current industry, but photo an exceedingly rudimentary 3 wheel mowing machine, and see big-wheeled, powerful farm tractors of both known and mystery makes. We hit the main road across the lake from Portomarin, and cross the river on a modern bridge (the original stone Roman one has gone, but the stone arch has been moved to higher ground when the river was dammed to complete the Belesar reservoir in 1962 ). Jerry has been making good time for ...

These Spanish people are crazy, they do this all the time. The streets were covered with stylish young Spaniards who were in various states of drunkenness and mobility. Party all night, and then, to quote Pito, "tomorrow I am from the bed to the sofa, from the sofa to the bed, all the day."
My hostel owner and her mom laughed at me (but gave me cake) when I crawled out of bed at noon today to pay for another night. I spent all day wandering around town.
There's live ...
