... are only ever two reasons someone would take a bus between two cities rather than a train. The first reason is that there isn't a simple, straightforward train route between the two cities. Secondly, and most commonly, because you didn't know you were going to leave until that morning, and by the time you got round to booking a sleeper train, all the seats were full. The reason why trains are so preferable is because of the relative comfort and speed of travelling at 90mph on straight ...
Bangalore, Karnataka, India ex-cession... br>While no one was killed, the airlines has initiated an inquiry and suspended both pilots pending it's outcome.
I thought to myself, I hope the inquiry takes over three weeks as I have two flights scheduled on Jet coming up. I hope the check pilot is still suspended when we fly that airline later this month.
We landed Bangalore, switched planes, and flew on to in one Hot and Humid Cochin later that afternoon. Next post is from there.
... pandit invited me to have puja with a purifying flame and sprinkle of holy water.
I’d reached the temple just before the close of morning services, and the Hindu priest locked the heavy carved wood door with a large metal skeleton key. He told me the temple was over 600 years old and it looked appropriately aged. The man’s English was good and he cheerfully introduced his wife and young daughter, and I took family photos and promised to print them for him. I ...
... The Night indeed, the night at its darkest………….
Few stayed, few stayed awake, some drinking and some puking. Some including me left to another enigmatically built house, drunk me wished once I met the architect who built the House. Or someone do a research on his brain.
The next day we left the place after the peaceful breakfast with an unexpected hospitality from the keepers of ...
I came to India with six cameras packed into a tan leather bag custom-made for a Leica camera and gear. This was my most self-indulgent luggage and is proving to be totally redundant. Five of the cameras are analogue, including two medium-format relics and a Russian Horizon panoramic, and though I like my toys I get by just fine with a single digital camera that I take with me everywhere.
I came to India with such equipment in order to capture what I ...
... traffic was apparently backed up for four hours.)
The traffic was pretty light today and we luckily did not have any rain, so we made good time on the drive. About halfway to Bangalore, Manoj told us that he would take us to one of "our restaurants" and stopped at a McDonald's along the road. Neither of us were very hungry, but we had a snack so that my mom could say that she ate at a McDonald's ...

... I would be facing. We assumed, and I say we because anyone who knows my family at all knows that my mother happens to not only be a pre-school teacher, a full-time/part-time accountant and a mother, but is also a full time travel agent. She's full-time not because we travel a lot (although I'm sure that plays a role in it), but mostly because she is on a first name basis with everyone at Air Canada, Northwest, and especially expedia.com (and those dudes are all over here with ...
Bangalore, Karnataka, India dbiddy... his count) until we called him to pick us up. We hadn't found any spices to take home, so we made one more stop at the "Big Bazaar" - which is the "Walmart of India." We were pretty much out of our league here because they had low prices on lots of different spices - but none of which either of us recognized. Came back to the guest house for dinner, showered and begun the long return trip (24+ hours.)
Bangalore, India rizzorc... liked it so much that is has been the only card game we've played so far! Plus, it makes 1.5 hours pass by really, really quickly. So we started the game and before we knew it we had a huge crowd of old Indian men watching us play. We explained the rules to the Indian guy sitting with us and he translated the situation to the crowd who were so engaged and intrigued by us. Apparently, Indians loved to play card games. It was cute to see them snooping behind Nidhi ...
