    Honeymoon in Spain

My wife and I recently visited Costa Brava (April 2013) as part of a two week honeymoon in Spain. Our stay at the Hotel Aigua Blava could not have been better. Although this was the end of the "off season" and some of the amenities were not operating, the Hotel was better than advertised. The views of the coast are stunning. The room was a very nice size, with a king sized bed, plenty of closet space and a sitting area with a coach and coffee table.

The staff was amazingly friendly. The main restaurant serves great food prepared in the typical Catalan fashion. It was a little too cold for a dip in the pool, but the grounds of the resort were very well maintained.

The Hotel staff sent a bottle of Cava to our room in celebration of our honeymoon. Everyone associated with the Hotel went out of their way to make our stay special.

Well, if you want somewhere with stunning views, friendly staff, flawless menu and desserts to die for I highly recommend Hotel Aiguablava. The big table of us ordered quite possibly everything on the menu and there wasn't a single complaint. Dessert followed and there was no complaining, in fact no conversation, something's always good when it causes silence.
    Love this place!

    The Golf Day

This part of the blog is going to be quite short in comparison, why? Not because things didn't happen, but that just today it was more a matter of experiencing those moments without having to always think about capturing them. This is more of a 'lessons learned' as summary of today and the whole trip, so here I go: 1. There are more than two places with the same name, don't just assume that the one you put in the sat nav will guide you to your chosen destination. 2. If you miss ...

... information was there very short opening times. We had managed to pick the one day of the year when ALL the museums were open, but we managed to actually view none. After enough walking and a quick explore of the cathedral, we hit the shops, initially to buy a magnet. We entered in a rather artistic shop, which we later found out was owned by a lady called Helena, nice woman. A true artist who earns her living making and selling her arts, oh and a true Catalan as well. After ...

Alarm goes off, alarm goes off again, alarm doesn't go off. Oops, 10 mins before the free time expires on the car, I make a quick dash to put some money on the meter. As I approach it looks normal, it takes money but does it want to? No. As I puzzle over the confusion of the machine, a 'man sweeper', starts talking in Catalan, I respond in Spanish, luckily he responds in Spanish. After much confusion I find that actually it does like money, ...

    Arrived

So, arrived in Girona. Nice and early in comparison to the flight time arrival. Did you know RyanAir has 93% on time success rate - feel so privileged to be in that higher percentage. Although maybe this was to do with the rapid construction of a ladder like stairs that attached to the airplane. I know they like you to walk to save their own miles, but seeing woman and children disembark off a 2 hour flight via a ladder seems unacceptable. ...

... That man was very twisted. Amber was hungry so we stopped at a cantina and she ordered grilled fish and was shocked to receive a platter with 5 different types of fish. Accomodation was booked using mums rewards point so we stayed in luxury. Seperate rooms. It was a bit of a goats track to get there but well worth the adventure for the ...
