    Honeymoon in Spain

My wife and I recently visited Costa Brava (April 2013) as part of a two week honeymoon in Spain. Our stay at the Hotel Aigua Blava could not have been better. Although this was the end of the "off season" and some of the amenities were not operating, the Hotel was better than advertised. The views of the coast are stunning. The room was a very nice size, with a king sized bed, plenty of closet space and a sitting area with a coach and coffee table.

The staff was amazingly friendly. The main restaurant serves great food prepared in the typical Catalan fashion. It was a little too cold for a dip in the pool, but the grounds of the resort were very well maintained.

The Hotel staff sent a bottle of Cava to our room in celebration of our honeymoon. Everyone associated with the Hotel went out of their way to make our stay special.

    Dinner and Crepes

Well, if you want somewhere with stunning views, friendly staff, flawless menu and desserts to die for I highly recommend Hotel Aiguablava. The big table of us ordered quite possibly everything on the menu and there wasn't a single complaint. Dessert followed and there was no complaining, in fact no conversation, something's always good when it causes silence.
    Love this place!

... the town including a nice family run restaurant for a late lunch. This featured a fabulous tomato and mozzarella salad, gazpacho and traditional Catalan sausage - a perfect introduction to Cadaques.

At 4 pm we went to see the Dali residence at nearby Portlligat, a remote fishing cove. This is a heavily controlled activity where one waits 40 minutes after picking up pre booked tickets, then gets conducted into some ...

    Ghosts of Girona

... culminating with the 1492 expulsion of the Jews from Spain by those godly monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella!

We walked the narrow cobblestone lanes, hemmed in by formidable ramparts. Human spirit was confined quite literally. We had intended to go out in the evening for tapas but the weight of travel and history (and our good lunch) depleted our resolve and we faded out early in Girona!

    Last Day in Lloret

Hola, update: We've checked out a Spanish Flamenco dinner/ dance show w tapas & sangria, which was ok, nothing to rave about. But this is our last day in Lloret & we bailed on a yacht ride today, too cold, Chris under weather, they managed to watch the AFL game during the day & then we had big night at the Gran Casino! We did get active after lunch though & did mini Pichu; cliff top walk to main part of town (only 2k). (Bit ...

... one on this road - Travel time was about 3 hours - Well worth it!! Great village set on a small harbour with numerous inlets and grottoes close by. when we drove in there was a HUGE car park and after circumnavigating the village via one way streets , that's where we ended up! Packed overnight bags as we had seen signs to our accommodation, but there is no parking in the town and most accommodations you reach by foot! When we reached Hostel Vehi ...

There are many people here who speak some English and apparently a lot of the hotels, restaurants and shops close down in winter or reduce there trading to the weekend, but they are so busy the rest of the year that they don't mind the break. The main beach here is swept ...
