Up at 7:00, bags out by 7:45, on the bus at 8:30. Today was a lot of driving. We left Sevilla and headed east toward Cordoba and then started headiing north toward Toledo and Madrid. Started the day with a trip to Toleda which is about an hour from Madrid. It reminded me alot of Malta as the town is within a tower. Very beautiful area where we had a walking tour around town. Visited a beautiful jewellery and gift shop which handmade jewellery.
After lunch toured Madrid by foot. We walked about 10km plus and enjoyed some tapas and wine for dinner.
Arrived in Madrid by 1.30am. Hopped on the bus for a city tour at about 3pm to view the many buildings.
Dinner was fantastic. We had a typical spanish meal of tapas, gazpachio soup, garlic soup, suckling pig, paella and Sangria. Spanish musicians entertained us and we finished with a night tour of the fountains.
Three-hour layover—hey, no problem! Frankfurt has a fantastic Business/First Class lounge that comes in really handy. Complimentary food/drink. Also WiFi. This is our first experience enjoying something like this. My sunglasses break; and, seriously, my only purchase on the trip takes place now in a duty-free shop in the airport. Walking …
SUNDAY 10th JUNE 2012 MADRID Not such a long drive today, so we did not have be on the bus till 8.30am, giving us time to have a lovely breakfast - many tour buses stop at this place so we got familiar stuff - nice scrambled eggs and bacon, plus all the great local fare of cakes, breads and cheeses!
