      Caudebec- Again great sun and blue sky...this morning we took a drive to see the thatched roof houses specific to Normandy. Many had thatched entrances, pool houses & garages. Along the roof ridge or crown are irises planted with their roots which help hold the thatch ...

      An early start was made earlier by leaving one of the shades open which woke everyone with the birds. It was hard to get up as it was a bit chilly but we had a deadline so we needed to get moving. Driving to the ferry port there was loads of fog so I was worried there may be delays and we wouldn't arrive on time but we got there with plenty of time to spare and then for some unknown reason the departure was delayed ...

      All I can say is wow. Got up at 8AM. Packed all my **** up and walked down to breakfast that was included in my room. Had café, orange juice, chocolate croissant, yogurt, an orange and baguette with 2 different kinds of cheese. Left around 8:45 to go find the Avis car rental. Walked for a bit and finally found it. Another woman was waiting as well. They opened at 9AM. Good timing. No reservations but got a vehicle. ...

      ... went for a walk into the small town as it was beginning to get dark. it was a nice place with two very old market halls still in use.
      The one thing that struck us most was that the town still had all its Christmas decorations up and illuminated.
