Arembepe, Brazil asci... the guys guys got particularly drunk at the beginning of the week and fell asleep with a cigarette in his hand. This dropped onto his mattress which then caught alight. It could have been much worse but apparently he peed himself and managed to put out the fire. He didn´t last long... Dominic had a chat to him and he was gone. Another guy was part of a clique of about 5 that formed. These guys were taking bets on who could kiss the most women in a night. Unfortunately many of ...
Praia do Forte, Brazil rebecca.rose... make it to adulthood! We saw some little baby turtles which they had just found in one the monitored nests - about 130 littl´uns per nest, very cute! The big ones were cool too, some of them were huge, all rescue turtles. They can live to be 150! We had thought we would stay here a while, but decided to move on after one night back to Salvador as the beaches weren´t up to scratch!
Praia de Forte, Brazil paulandnic... 13 - Homens Treze ! A Macdonalds for breakfast, a grande Popcorn and a packet of fags each later - we felt decidely westernised again - and returned to the bus station for yet another uncomfortable nights dozing - sleep is usually a non-occurance.
Salvador, Brazil kevandrach... buy with 6 reais. Festival of June on in Bahia, a festival for young people, we think where they get away with anything considering the amount of firecrackers they were throwing around! As we were bussing last night there were bonfires everywhere, it was a pretty cool celebration. Had a stickybeak at a project run by one of the pousadas protecting rare crabs on the island, very cool crabs and loads of them, it´s scary how easily things ...
Morro De Saó Paulo, Ilha de Tinhare, Brazil jillsySpringtime a 40 ft yacht that was built on the Vaal Dam (in South Africa), originally set sail from Durban harbour four years ago with her crew Thomas and Johness Pinion, along with their daughter Dominique and the ships' cat Peanuts. But they only managed to battle their way down the coast to Hout Bay (near Cape Town), where onshore life and jobs ate the time away. It wasn't until April 2006 with an extra crew member aboard, Alex Nebe who had done a similar voyage as a kid and now ...
Salvador, Brazil sparrow07... feet off with a watering can as you are leaving. hehe, this is the life! One thing I have been waiting to mention...the Brazilian swimwear...Ok we were prepared for some butt from the ladies, we sure got that - but not from the MEN. All the guys here wear these horrific tight, lycra, short shorts (AKA bumpsters!!) some ...
Salvador, Brazil cosboA week in Brazil has passed so quickly, I am not sure if it has been lounging around doing nothing that has made the time pass so quickly, but I am back on the gringo trail again after spending luxury time with my folks. I took for flights out of Bolivia to get to Salvador, Brazil is such a big country.... I arrived at La Paz airport to find my flight time had change and the flight was leaving, doh. So I got on another plane. This stopped at Sucre and then at Santa ...
Costa Do Sauipe, Salvador, Brazil hodgeI´m not really sure where to begin with all of this or even positive if I can fully explain what I just experienced over the last four days...Carnaval was absolutely insane. millions of people flocked to Salvador filling the streets with what the Guinness Book of World's Records has cited as the biggest street party in the world, and I was in the center of it all! As I explained before, the streets were lined ...
Salvador da Bahia, Brazil cori42Salvador and Carnivale! What a great city! Rio is NOT the carnivale capital, Salvador is! Had a great time here touring the old city and going to the beautiful beaches. On my last night I got the chance to taste the Salvadorian Carnivale as it was launch night. Imagine 2 million people in the streets dancing and laughing to great music with a beautiful beach and lighthouse backdrop.... if you can imagine it... you are in Salvador. Carnivale was ...
