Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Agora Saint-Germain Paris
A small friendly hotel
I spent 5 days at the hotel in early June and was very impressed. The rooms are small but very clean and fairly quiet for Paris.
The hotel is only a 5 minute walk to Notre Dame yet felt outside of the tourist area - which was a plus. The breakfast was an added plus and would recommend it.
The staff at Agora rotate frequently.
Convienent location for walking tours and catching the metro. A little over priced via Expedia so shop around. Some staff were helpful and others were rude. Beware about coming back late at night, you may have to wait outside locked doors for a while. Good little continental breakfast free if you stay for 7 days. Make sure to ask about your room in advance and where it is located in the small hotel. The cleaning staff can be very noisey in the morning especially near their closet. Clean, but if you put out do not disturb sign, don't expect it to be honored while you are gone.
Great choice
Lovely hotel; great reception staff; clean; air-conditioned; good breakfast; great location. We stayed here 2 summers ago. We stopped at the Abbatial, where we've had a great experience, but they were booked. They referred us to the Agora, which is their "sister" hotel. Eric, at the front desk, showed us rooms to see if we'd like them! Had a discount rate going as well. Wanted to share this good experience with others.
Comfortable little hotel with friendly, well trained staff.
We have just spent 10 wonderful days in Paris staying at the Hotel Agora St Germain. We'd like to thank the excellent staff at the hotel and in particular Aline at the front desk for making our stay so great. It is a very comfortable little hotel, well run and in what must be the most convenient location on the Left Bank and we highly recommend it.Keith and Sandra Brown
Best hotel I've been to in Paris
Excellent hotel, friendly English speaking staff. Room was bigger than i thought it would be. Brilliant location too, 5 minute walk to Notre Dame. They do a lovely little continental breakfast to get you going in the morning for 9 Euro. Only bad thing, their lift is tiny, hard to get 2 people in never mind luggage as well.
Wonderful hotel
We stayed here in April, 2003 and had a wonderful time. The location is convenient. The area is quiet, quaint and safe. We booked a deluxe room so it was bigger than the standard room and very comfortable. The staff was wonderful! They were friendly and extremely helpful. They made our stay in Paris even more pleasant.
Great little hotel
I loved the location of this hotel. 5 min walk to Notre Dame, down the street from the Cluny museum, close to a Metro stop (Mauberte mutualite). Room was small but clean quiet and comfortable. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I loved exploring the back streets heading towards the Sorbonne--picturesque little streets full of local residents going about their lives.
Clean & good location for the price
This hotel is located in a convenient and safe-feeling area. It's very close to the metro and a short walk to the marche mouffetard, pantheon and shops and restaurants. The staff was pleasant. The room was small but clean and sufficient for the price. We would stay here again.
What's up with the desk staff at the Agora St. Germain?
I didn't even get to make a reservation at the Agora St. Germain. The reason is because of the desk staff's attitude in replying to email inquiries. I first contacted the hotel via its email address and asked if there were any discounts given in July. I received a smart alec answer of "Yes" only with no details of what the discounts are.I tried to email the hotel again by filling out its information form and never got any response. With so many other nice and nicer hotels in the same area I would not bother! The hotel is not doing ME a favor.
Gret Location and nice staff
The Agora St. Germain is a quiet old fashioned hotel in a great location. The rooms are sparse but comfortable. The staff were nice and helpful during our stay. You may want to shop for a better price as the hotel is somewhat overpriced in my opinion.Bill

A 5am wake up call makes for a very grumpy Mrs Fletche but the frown is soon turned upside down when I remember why we are awake at this ungodly hour… we're off to Paris! Suitcases are packed, guide book has been read and memorised, and thoughts of delicate French pastries and copious glasses of wine speed up the train journey from Birmingham …

Awakened by the Sunday morning church bells, we throw open the curtains on this glorious morning… except it is grey, damp and more than a little drizzly. Oh well. Looks like we used up all our good weather vouchers on our arrival. Still, today is the day for walking, walking, walking!
We made a conscious decision that on this trip …

Another church bell alarm call – and I awake in a panic – someone has cut off my legs in the night! I can't feel them at all! And when I step out of bed, I almost fall to the floor in a graceful heap. Mr Fletche reassures me that my legs are still intact, and points out that walking ten miles the previous day, and then sleeping in one …
